zipline
Last summer, I surprised Kristian with a special date: Lake Travis Zipline Adventures! Neither of us had ever been so we were extremely excited about doing it.

Boating to our first zipline
After a short boat ride to the spot in which we would begin, we were given some safety instruction, followed by 2 short zips, which I like to call “practice” because they were really short and rather lame. They did give us a good feel for what was coming next, though.

After the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th zips, we felt like pros. They were fast, long-ish and the stops at the end of each line weren’t too abrupt. We had this in the bag!
Don’t we look confident?

The final zipline was by far the fastest and longest zip.
In fact, it is the 7th longest zipline in North America!
We got harnessed in and decided that we would race to the finish, but not without a video to document who really won. I offered to video it because Kristian’s phone was new… and precious.
Here’s our final zip at 70 mph over beautiful Lake Travis (make sure you watch until the very end – you can skip ahead to the last 10 seconds or so after the zip):
Zipline phone of the decade?
Samsung Droid Charge!!! After hitting a jagged rock at the end of it’s flight, the case peeled back, but the phone survived without a scratch! And after that? Yeah, it survived a water bottle dumping all over it, a dunk in a toilet, followed by a good scrub inside and out with soap and water (of course, it sat in a bag of rice for 4 days after each incident.) But hey! Don’t judge! Would you want to touch a phone that just came out of a public toilet? EW! Soap and water was the least I would have done if I had more at my disposal.
